About Emma Watson

Watson was born in Paris, France to Jacqueline Luesby and Charles Watson, who were both English lawyers. Her parents divorced when she was young, and Watson moved to England with her mother. She dreamed of being an actress from a very young age and took classes at a theater school in England called Stagecoach Theatre Arts. She starred in many school plays, but her first professional acting job was in the Harry Potter series. While on set for filming, Watson received private tutoring, which sometimes took five hours each day.

After appearing in multiple Harry Potter films and becoming an acclaimed young artist, Watson began playing roles in other films. The first non-Harry Potter role for the young actress was in a BBC production called Ballet Shoes. Since then, she has had other prominent roles in movies outside of Harry Potter, including The Tale of Despereaux, in which she voiced the character known as Princess Pea, The Bling Ring, and Perks of Being a Wallflower.

Aside from acting, Watson also has a successful career as a model. Her modeling career began when she was the youngest actress to ever be featured on the cover of Teen Vogue. Watson landed modeling jobs with companies such as Lancome and Burberry and appeared as the face of both of these companies. Modeling also led to a partnership between Watson and People Tree, a clothing company, which in turn led to Watson releasing her own line of both spring, autumn, and winter clothing.

Due to her busy career, Watson has had difficulty maintaining a relationship. She dated Will Adamowicz beginning in 2011, but the couple split in early 2014. Later in 2014, Watson began dating another Oxford student who played rugby, but they split in November of that same year.

Watson has been active in the fight for gender equality. She has given multiple speeches on the subject and has notably called men to join in the fight. During one of her more recognized speeches, she said the feminism is the idea that men and women are equal and called for women to stop man-hating. She has been named the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador. Her first country visit as an ambassador was to Uruguay, where she gave a speech on the need for women to participate in politics.
