ABOUT KATT WILLIAMS
Katt Williams was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and lived with his parents in Dayton. Due to his positive, encouraging environment, Katt learned to read by the age of three. He was emancipated from his parents at the age f 13 and moved to Florida, where he supported himself for a time as a street vendor. He soon discovered he had a talent for making people laugh and he began honing his comedic skills by writing and performing short, 5-minute skits. Soon he realized entertaining people with his comedy was what he wanted to do. As soon as he was able, he began traveling from state to state, performing his comedy routines wherever he found an audience. In 1995 Katt met and married Quadirah Locus. Later that year he became the father of a baby boy, Micah. The marriage fell apart and after the couple divorced Katt got custody of Micah. He took the boy on the road with him. By 1999 he had established himself as a legitimate comic and was gracing the stages of some of the biggest comedy clubs on the West Coast. Movie and television roles followed. Katt adopted seven more children and in 2010 he married Eboni Gray. Along with his phenomenal success Katt has also encountered some legal problems. In 2006, Katt was arrested for possession of a stolen firearm, which he tried to bring through Los Angeles International Airport. He received three years’ probation for the offense. In November of 2008, hours before he was scheduled to perform at Carnegie Hall, Katt was arrested on gun charges and was released from jail with 35 minutes to spare before he was due to go onstage. Future encounters with the law would include more gun possession charges, witness intimidation, assaulting a record producer, slapped an employee at a Target store, and led police on a chase while driving his three-wheeled motorcycle. Nothing more than stints on probation or hours in jail have ever resulted from any of these incidents. And none of them have tarnished his popularity at all: Katt Williams is listed as one of the Top 10 Most Popular Comedians of 2015.
