Miranda Cosgrove began acting at a young age. Her first notable role was in the hit Nickelodeon series Drake and Josh, in which she played an evil young sister by the name of Megan. Shortly after her role in this series, she landed the starring role in the Nickelodeon series iCarly, in which she played the title character.

Cosgrove was born in Los Angeles, California to parents Tom and Chris Cosgrove. When Cosgrove was only three years old, she was singing and dancing at a local restaurant when she was discovered by an agent. The agent approached the toddler and her mother and inquired about whether the young girl would be interested in modeling. Cosgrove accepted the offer and modeled, as well as appeared in commercials for companies like McDonald’s and for products like Mello Yello. When Cosgrove was seven, she decided to begin auditioning for television roles.

In 2001, Cosgrove landed her first television role when she lent her voice to character on the premiere of Smallville.
