Ray Romano’s Net Worth History
Ray Romano is most famous for starring the TV comedy ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ and most of the money that he has made throughout his career has come from this show. He played the main character in the show and also co-wrote a number of episodes. He also worked as a producer on the show, which would have earned him more money than the rest of the cast. The show ran from 1996 to 2005, and he starred in all 210 episodes. Repeats of the show are still aired regularly all over the world, and DVDs of all nine seasons are also available, for which Romano continues to receive royalty payments.
He also voiced the character of Manny the Mammoth in all four of the Ice Age movies, for which he was well paid. Romano has a very distinctive voice and it was well matched to the slightly grumpy character of Manny. The first three movies grossed almost $2 billion dollars worldwide, with each one taking more money than the last. He has already signed up to reprise his role for the fifth instalment of the movie franchise, which is due for release in 2016.
About Ray Romano
Ray Romano spent a number of years on the stand up comedy circuit trying to make a name for himself before he landed a regular role on The Late Show with David Letterman. Everybody Loves Raymond was the show that really made him a household name, and saw his focus turn away from stand up comedy to acting, although comedy was obviously still a big part of the show and he is known as a comedy actor.
The characters that he developed for Everybody Loves Raymond were loosely based on his own family. Ally is the name of his eldest daughter, and he also has twin boys, although they are named Gregory and Matthew, not Geoffrey and Michael. He also has a younger brother called Robert. However, he is a school teacher and it is his elder brother, Richard who works for the NYPD.
He met his wife Anna while they both worked in a bank, and they have been married since 1987. They have four children, Ally, Gregory, Michael and Joseph. The family announced in 2012 that Anna had been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010, and that she had successfully beaten the disease. This information was made public with the hope that it would raise awareness of the disease, and encourage other women to see their doctor if they had any concerns about their health.
He has performed a number of shows in Vegas, often with other comedians such as Kevin James and David Spade, although he has performed in a solo show. These shows have seen him return to his stand up comedy roots, and are often billed as major attractions in the hotel that he performs in, which is usually the Mirage.
