About Steve O
Steve O made most of his money being a stunt man, and doing silly and dangerous things while being videotaped, in order to share his craziness with the world. He tried legitimate college at the University of Miami and the University of New Mexico, however, he dropped out of both due to poor grades and disobedience. He found his calling at the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Clown College, where he graduated from in 1997. After graduation, he decided not to join Ringling Brothers, and went off on his own, working as a clown in a circus at the Fort Lauderdale Swap Shop flea market. There, he began filming his stunts and clown performances.
He began sending his stunt clips to Big Brother Magazine’s editor, Jeff Tremaine. When he told Tremaine that the only fear that he had was of spiders, Tremaine recruited him to be a cast member of the MTV series, Jackass. This was a show which included a group of outrageous men, performing dangerous and painful stunts. It became an instant hit for MTV. Following the success of Jackass, several movies were released, including, Jackass: The Movie, Jackass Number Two, and Jackass 2.5, which went direct to video. The Jackass franchise went back to the big screen with Jackass 3D, and Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa. During all of this, he continued to release straight to DVD films of his antics and stunts which were censored by MTV. Due to the craziness involved in his stunts, Steve O found himself in trouble with the law many times. None of which landed him in prison.
After Jackass, MTV gave Steve O another show called Wildboyz, where he co-starred with his former Jackass costar Chris Pontius. This show also involved dangerous stunts, however, the stunts on this show included dangerous animals as well.
After Wildboyz was canceled, he did a short stint on the British reality show, Love Island and Dr. Steve-O on the USA Network. He also penned a novel and released two rap albums.
Unfortunately, Steve O also had issues with drugs, alcohol, mental illness, and the death of one of his closest friends. These set backs created problems in his professional career, however, he was able to get the help that he needed, and has since been performing as a stand up comic, including an appearance on the Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen.
He has since come back from his mental health and drug and alcohol problems. Today, he is on the road to recovery, shocking his fans with his incredible and insane stunts and making them laugh.
