Net Worth History of Vanna White
Vanna White moved to Los Angeles, CA in the late 1970’s to pursue a modeling and acting career. Her first taste of game show life was when she was a contestant on The Price Is Right that originally aired on June 18, 1980.
Two years later, she was hired to be one of three substitute hostess on the TV game show, Wheel of Fortune. They were looking for a replacement for the current host at the time, Susan Stafford. White was chosen to be the regular hostess of the show on December 13, 1982 and has been with the show ever since.
As of January 2014, White has made an appearance on more than 6,000 Wheel of Fortune episodes. During the 16th year of syndication, in 1999, Wheel of Fortune was seen by 40 million viewers.
The permanent position of chief “letter turner” on the Wheel of Fortune made Ms. White a big star. “Vannamania” was sweeping the world and she was soon offered many lucrative endorsement deals which only added to her net worth.
Some observers mocked Vanna White for her limited abilities to act and her non speaking role on Wheel of Fortune, but the majority of viewers came to love her beauty and charisma. She has become aniconic figure in American.
Vanna White was recognized in the Guinness Book of World Records in 1992 as a “frequent clapper”. She clapped, on average, 720 times per episode of Wheel of Fortune.
There was a book, known as ‘Vanna Speaks’, published in 1987 and it is an autobiography of the popular 1980’s icon.
In addition to her success from Wheel of Fortune, Vanna White sued Samsung Electronics that aired a commercial that featured a smiling robot that turned letters on a game show. White said that the company was using her likeness without her permission. After several appeals, Vanna White finally won the case and was awarded damages above 400 thousand dollars.
