Brett Favre Net Worth History
Arguably one of the most successful and well-known National Football League (NFL) players of all time, Bretty Favre enjoyed a successful twenty-year run with the organization. Throughout this time, he played quarterback for four different teams: the Atlanta Falcons, the Minnesota Vikings, the Green Bay Packers, and the New York Jets. Favre amassed his wealth and fame by not only being a successful quarterback, but also by being one of the oldest players in the NFL, which gained him considerable recognition. At one point, he was the only known active NFL player to have grandchildren.
About Brett Favre
Favre was born in Gulfport, Mississippi to parents Irvin and Bonita Favre. Favre attended Hancock North Central High School, where he played football and baseball and played a variety of positions. During his time as a high school football player, his main focus was on being a runningback. While he sometimes played the quarterback position, his father was the coach of the running game, which led him to focus more on that aspect of the game.
Upon graduating high school, Favre played football at Southern Mississippi University. The college wanted the young player to play the position of defensive back, but Favre insisted on playing quarterback. He started his college career as seventh string quarterback, but within three games he became the starting quarterback.
It was not until his senior year in college that Favre received much attention for his work in football. He was involved in a terrible car accident and nearly died. He was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, but within six weeks he was playing football again and led his university to a victory over Alabama.
After graduating college, Favre was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the second round of the 1991 NFL draft. The coach of the Atlanta Falcons, however, did not like the fact that his team had drafted Favre, so he only stayed with this team for a year.
After leaving the Falcons, Favre went on to play for the Green Bay Packers. The majority of his career was spent with the Wisconsin NFL team, whom he played for from 1992 to 2007. The Green Bay Packers had wanted Favre the year before, but he was drafted before they got a chance to draft him for themselves. While with the Packers, Favre received three MVP awards and won a Super Bowl.
At the end of the 2007 season, Favre announced that he would retire, but he changed his mind and returned to the NFL to play for the New York Jets for a season. After his stint with the Jets, he played for the Minnesota Vikings for the 2009 and 2010 seasons. Since 2010, he has been retired.
In 1996, Favre married Deanna Tynes. Together the couple has two children, Breleigh and Brittany. His older daughter, Brittany, has had two children, which made Favre the only active NFL player known to have grandchildren.
