Flavor Flav Net Worth History:

Flavor Flav’s $9 Million networth is a result of his early musical career and his VH1reality shows. Flavor Flav came to the forefront of the music scene as a hip-hop band member of the chart topping “Public Enemy.” Flavor Flav, Chuck D, Professor Griff, and DJ Lord made up the band which ranked among the world’s greatest artists according to Rolling Stone in 2004. Flavor Flav and Chuck D. were the men who began a musical project, which turned into the group Public Enemy. Public Enemy’s first album collaboration with Def Jam Records in 1986 received limited recognition from the hip-hop community, but the band came back with a venegance with their second release entitled “It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back.” This release sold over 2 million copies in the U.S., and more overseas. Flavor Flav’s income greatly increased with the band’s many releases, 3 albums which went platinum (It Takes A Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back; Fear of Black Planet; and Apocalypse 91 .. The Enemy Strikes Back). The bank also received financial success with their single “Public Enemy #1.” Flavor Flav and Public Enemy’s songs were also used in the film “He Got Game” and the world famous video game “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.” Flavor Flav’s net worth further increased with his work on VH1’s reality shows: The Surreal Life, Strange Love, and Flavor of Love, which aired for three seasons with top ratings and other spin off shows ( “I Love New York” and “I Love Money”). The entrepreneurial spirit of Flavor Flav and his cooking background led him to attempt a partnership with Nick Cimino to use Flav’s homemade friend chicken recipe. The partnership died, but Cimino paid Flavor Flav to use his name and recipe for Cimino’s restaurant. Flavor Flav then teamed up with Gino Harmon and Salvatore Bitonti to start a Flavor Flav Chicken and Ribs restaurant. The fast food restaurant opened in December 2012 and closed in July 2013. Flavor Flav receives additional income from his many reality show appearances, video games, movies, game shows, WWE wrestling matches, Super Bowl half time shows, animated character voices, and certain children shows.

About Flavor Flav:

Flavor Flav was born William Drayton Jr and grew up in Freeport, Long Island New York. He is the son of William Sr. and Anna Drayton, who owned a small, popular restaurant in Freeport. Flavor Flav’s father passed away in 1997 and his mother passed away in 2013. William has two sisters and seven children. His youngest son lives with Flav and his finance of eight years, Elizabeth Tujillo in Las Vegas. He did not do well in school, but he was a child musical prodigy. He played the piano at fives years of age, he sang in his church choir and taught himself the drums and guitar. It is reported that he is pretty proficient in 15 instruments.

He dropped out of high school and he could not find a job, so he enrolled in a culinary school. He found work in several restaurants in his home town. Flav, even in his youth, was in constant trouble and did short term jail time for robbery and burglary. When he was younger, he was playing with lighters and burned his house down. Unfortunately, Flavor Flav consistently had legal problems, including a bad alcohol and drug abuse addiction. Flav has had very public relationships that did not work out, such as Brigitte Nielsen and model Beverly Johnson, as well as the ladies on his TV reality show, like Nicole Alexander, Leilene Ondrade, Tiffany Pollard, and several others.

William’s name came about because he made up a dance called Flavor Flav and he took on that persona. William said, calling himself Flavor Flav took him away from his troubles. Also, wearing a large stopwatch as a necklace when he performed with the Public Enemy band, occurred because he saw a studio technician wearing one. The stopwatch started as a joke, but soon everyone expected him to wear one and it became his lucrative brand. William reports that he is trying to turn his life around since he gave up drinking and drugs and that he is looking forward to continuing his successful career, however, in July, he was pulled over for speeding and was charged with a DUI, involving cocaine and having an open container of alcohol.
