About the Jonas Brothers
The Early Years
Nick Jonas started off the whole Jonas Brothers empire at the age of 7, when he began performing in several Broadway plays, including A Christmas Carol, where he played Tiny Tim, Annie Get Your Gun, Beauty and the Beast, and Les Miserables. He also performed in The Sound of Music, at the Paper Mill Playhouse. While he was working on Beauty and the Beast, he wrote a song with his father, which was eventually released on a label, who played the song often on Christian radio. Soon, Joe followed in his brother’s footsteps, and began appearing in La boheme on Broadway. After Columbia Records heard about Nick’s song, he was signed, and began releasing Christian rock songs on the label with the help of his two brothers.
Following their popularity, they began touring as The Jonas Brothers, with successful artists including Kelly Clarkson, Jesse McCartney, Jump5, Click Five, and the Backstreet Boys. Later they toured with Aly & AJ and the Cheetah Girls. When the group began working on their first album, they collaborated with song writers who had written hit songs for many successful musicians. Soon after, they began producing theme songs for Disney and Nickelodeon television shows.
In 2007, the Jonas Brothers signed with Hollywood Records, began doing jingles for commercials, and began making special appearances on television shows, including the Disney Channel Games, Miss Teen USA, the American Music Awards, Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, and Dick Clark’s New Years Rockin’ Eve.
Between 2008 and 2009, the Jonas Brothers released two more albums and were featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.
The Jonas Brothers started out guest starring on a few episodes of Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana. Later, they collaborated with Miley Cyrus on her 3D concert tour. Their film debut was in the Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock. Because Camp Rock was such a success, Disney Channel wanted a Camp Rock 2. Their youngest brother, Frankie Jonas also starred in this movie, which was a huge success. Soon after they were given their own show on Disney Channel called Jonas, and lent their voices to several cartoon shows and movies. They also worked with ABC television on a special called Un-Broke: What You Need To Know About Money. It was a special which helped younger people understand the importance of understanding the stock market.
