About George Clooney
George Clooney was born in Lexington, Kentucky to Nick and Nina Clooney. He comes from a family of performers; his mother was a beauty pageant contestant, his father was a game show host, and his father’s sister is singer Rosemary Clooney. Playing baseball all through school, he tried out for the Cincinnati Reds but wasn’t offered a position on the team. His cousin helped him get his first role, a small role in a movie, which got him his start in acting professionally. While living in Los Angeles as a struggling actor, he lived with then girlfriend Kelly Preston before she went on to become Mrs. John Travolta. While they were dating they had a pet pig named Max, which Clooney kept until Max died in 2006.
His major breakthrough role was playing Dr. Doug Ross on the NBC hit show “E.R.”. While still working on the show, he starred in a few films, including “One Fine Day” with Michelle Pfeiffer. In 1997 George Clooney passed up a role in the movie “Jack Frost”, because he was given the opportunity to play the leading role in “Batman and Robin”. Funnily enough, the role in “Jack Frost” was given to Michael Keaton, who is also famous for playing Batman in previous two movies. Some of his bigger roles included “O Brother Where Art Thou?” and the Ocean’s 11, 12, and 13 Trilogy. He actually accepted the role in “O Brother Where Art Thou?” without reading the script and taking a considerably lower salary, because he was so eager to work with the Coen brothers. It was in 2007 that he took on his first film from the director’s seat, working on “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind”.
George Clooney has been considered one of the sexiest men in Hollywood for quite a few years. He was married to actress Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993. After their divorce, he swore he would never get married again. He has however had many high profile relationships, including WWE star Stacy Keibler, Renee Zellweger, and Lucy Liu. There was even a friendly bet between him, Michelle Pfeiffer and Nicole Kidman for $10,000 each, that he would have children before he turned 40. Winning that bet, he was kind enough to return the money shortly after his birthday. Finally settling down in September 2014, he married his current wife, Amal Alamuddin. The stunning couple announced in July of 2015 that they were trying to conceive.
