Eventually he was discovered by Rodney Dangerfield in 1982 and by 1985 he appeared in his first motion picture titled “Once Bitten”. While he was still working on “In Living Color”, Carrey was able to land a leading role in the 1994 film Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. This movie was not given good reviews by critics. In 1997 Carrey released Liar Liar and this film was one of his biggest money earners to date. The film made $313 at the box office. The Trueman show was released in 1998 earned $264 million and in 2000 he released his How the Grinch Stole Christmas which was one of his biggest earning films to date. Carrey made $381 million dollars off of this film.
During the 2000s, Carrey made films such as “Bruce Almighty”, “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” and “Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events”. Bruce Almighty was Carrey’s most profitable
film. It earned around $484 million dollars. Since this time, most of Carrey’s films have managed to draw in big numbers from fans.
