Bobby Brown started out in the music industry at a very young age. Brown and his childhood friends participated in several local talent competitions. After receiving local recognition, the childhood friends decided to pursue a professional music career and later became New Edition. New Edition consists of Bobby Brown, Ralph Tresvant, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, and Ronnie Devoe. Singer Johnny Gill joined the group several years later.
Upon the success of New Edition’s first single, Candy Girl, Bobby Brown and his group members shot to stardom as the song became a huge hit. Following, were several hit singles and New Edition were in high demand.
